Through The Hopkins Fund, the JHU community comes together to make a difference right now in the lives of students and faculty within the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering. Gifts of all sizes to The Hopkins Fund add up to support critical priorities, strengthen learning and student experiences across Homewood, and provide opportunities and access that may otherwise not be possible.
Current-use gifts, like gifts to The Hopkins Fund, are used immediately – offering real-time impact – and may be spent down in entirety to support the current student body and university/school priorities. Endowed gifts are assets that are invested in perpetuity, providing Hopkins with ongoing operating income for future generations. Endowed funds earn income, such as dividends, interest, and capital appreciation, and each year a percentage of that annual income goes to support a specific purpose. Current-use funds complement the endowment and allow the university and its schools to be responsive and innovative in meeting pressing needs.
The collective impact of annual current-use gifts, like those contributed to The Hopkins Fund, provides a key part of JHU’s funding each year and helps fill gaps to allow students to pursue their dreams and make the most of their Homewood experience.
Additionally, the percentage of our alumni that give back each year is factored into several nationwide rankings as a proxy for alumni satisfaction. Your annual gift is your vote for Hopkins and demonstrates that you value your degree and experience. Gifts to The Hopkins Fund and other areas across the institution, regardless of size, help propel the university forward and provide the necessary resources our students need to earn their degrees.
Yes! The Hopkins Fund exists to enable alumni and friends of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and/or the Whiting School of Engineering to contribute to the vitality of their schools by making gifts that may be used immediately to help financial aid applicants, undergraduate students, and faculty members seize opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach. A gift to The Hopkins Fund is the best way you can make a difference right now in the lives of students and faculty from your preferred Homewood School.

To celebrate a Reunion Milestone, marked in five-year increments from graduation, means to reconnect with old friends and relive your undergraduate days. A great way for Hopkins alumni to commemorate the occasion is by making an annual gift to support your favorite Hopkins places, people, and programs.
To serve on a Reunion Planning Committee for your respective class year and/or to make a philanthropic gift in honor of your Reunion Milestone, please use The Hopkins Fund Staff Directory to contact your respective staff liaison. Visit alumni.jhu.edu/reunion to see the most up-to-date information on this year’s Alumni Weekend and Reunion Celebration.
